NAVAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND SEVENTH FLEET TRAINING FRAMEWORK - QUICK REVIEW Status: Proposed living framework for Second Life roleplay training. Executive Intent: Keep training credible, consistent, and sustainable without turning roleplay into classroom work. What This Framework Is: - Roleplay-first training support model - Practical structure for consistent baseline knowledge - Fun-first approach that protects in-world interaction time What This Framework Is Not: - Real-world military training simulation - Heavy pipeline, bureaucracy, or workload replication - A system that blocks social roleplay participation Core Model (Split Training): 1. Off-world LMS for foundational knowledge 2. In-world sessions for scenario application and interaction LMS Design: - Short self-paced modules (about 5-10 minutes) - Open-book, low-stress quizzes with retakes - Covers terminology, rank structure, rating basics, safety, and RP expectations - Unlocks specific drills/qualifications (soft gating) - Never blocks general roleplay or social participation In-World Training Design: - 20-45 minute sessions - Scenario-driven and story-focused - Minimal lecture time - Focus on decisions, interaction, and practical application - Repeatable and optional where practical Rating "A" Schools: - Small number of LMS modules - Limited short in-world practical scenarios - Goal: confidence and consistency, not grind Future Optional Tracks: - "C" Schools: short enrichment or scenario unlocks for advanced RP specialization - Officer Education: lightweight orientation/enrichment tracks (OCS, ODS, NPS, NWC concepts) - All optional and driven by member interest and roleplay value Expected Benefits: - Shorter, better in-world sessions - Reduced instructor burnout - Faster onboarding - Better baseline knowledge across the fleet - Improved long-term retention Rollout (Incremental): Phase 1: Define requirements and pilot LMS modules Phase 2: Tie LMS completion to selected in-world activities Phase 3: Introduce rating-specific "A" School tracks Phase 4: Introduce optional "C" School tracks Phase 5: Introduce optional officer education tracks Phase 6: Steady-state operation with periodic review and adjustment Closing: This is not lowering standards. It puts the right standards in the right environment so training supports roleplay. Captain Dave Gaffer
